Our superb hotel lies 35 km/22 miles north/north-east of Ngurah Rai International Airport on 17 acres of lush, green terraced rice slopes, overlooking the Ayung River.

The property features 46 beautifully-apointed units with Sayan suites, Terrace suites, one and two bedroom private villas plus the Royal Villa. Extending from the top of the verdant hillside down to the river's edge, the Resort offers one of the most impressive views of the sacred Ayung River Valley.

Upon arrival guests cross a wooded bridge leading to an elliptical lotus pond measuring 9,170 square feet (852 square meters). The pond rests on the roof of the resort's three-level central building. Guests then descend through a staircase in the pond to the reception area where they enjoy stunning 180 degree views of the valley.

Chauffeured service is available for airport transfers and local transport in a Toyota Land Cruiser or standard sedan. Sayan resort guests checking into the Four Season Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay are given complimentary transfers to Jimbaran from Sayan. The travelling time between the resorts is approximately one hour.

Local car hire, with or without driver, can also be arranged. A valid international drivers license is required to rent a self-drive vehicle.

The 46 well-appointed guest accommodations are built along 17 acres of the terraced hillside and use indigenous materials in an innovative Balinese design, tastefully combining the traditional and the new.

The five (5) Sayan Suites and thirteen (13) Terrace Suites are ideally located in the central building. The remaining 28 villas are all free standing with spacious gardens and are spread throughout verdant rice fields and rolling hillside. The villas include private plunge pools and afford total privacy with imposing views of the river valley.

All accommodations feature custom-made furnishings from Java and Bali and the resort fabrics are hand-loomed, dyed and woven locally. All the furniture in the villas has been selected to complement the villa design and art enthusiasts praise the skilful selection of art and artifacts.

Sayan Suites (5 units, 1323 ft2 / 123m2 including terraces) - Exquisitely accented with teak and Balinese natural stone, this suite is entered through a tiled foyer.

To one side of the foyer is a comfortable sitting area, dining table and bathroom as well as an open-air terrace with a raised lounging bed. One the opposite side is a spacious bedroom with writing table and large bathroom, which includes double vanities, terrazzo soaking tub, w.c. and separate glass shower. A wooden deck, with teak lounge chairs, overlooks the river valley.

Terrace Suite (13 units, 915ft2 / 85m2 including terraces) - Beautifully designed and conceived, the two-story unit contains an upper living area with spacious dining, seating and terrace area for entertaining. The lower level features an elegant bedroom with adjoining terrace area and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The bathroom includes double vanities, terrazzo soaking tub, w.c. and glass shower.

One-Bedroom Villa (25 units, 2152ft2 / 200 m2 including terrace and plunge pool) - Designed to complement the natural surroundings and offer the utmost in privacy, guests enter the villa from rooftop complete with lotus gardens and wooden deck.

Descending through a circular stone stairway to a spacious living area, which opens on to a large wooden deck terrace area with its own 129 square foot (12m2) plunge pool and private garden. Adjacent to the terrace and living room area is a bedroom which connects to a spacious bathing area, complete with terrazzo soaking bathtub, double vanities, glass shower, w.c. and outdoor shower.

Two-Bedroom Villa (2 units, 9149ft2 / 850 m2) including terrace area and plunge pools) - Offering even greater luxury is the two-bedroom villa featuring an enlarged living/dining room and spacious king and twin bedrooms. Each bedroom opens onto its own private terraced deck: the large bathroom has a terrazzo soaking bathtub, double vanities, wc, glass shower and outdoor shower. A large 215 square foor (20m2) plunge pool is framed by a beautifully-landscape garden.

Royal Villa ( 1 unit, 10,763ft2 / 1000m2 including terraces and pool) - Ideally positioned adjacent to the Ayung River, this prime location affords stunning views of the surrounding rice paddies and river valley. The two-level villa includes two bedrooms (king bed and twin beds) and lounge area upstairs and one master bedroom, an elegant dining room and living room downstairs. A spectacular 470 square foot (43m2) plunge pool is surrounded by lush garden.

The Royal Sayan Villa features a rare collection of treasured Indonesia art, each selected on enhanced the natural charm and decor of the villa.

ACCOMMODATION FEATURES & AMENITIES: All guest accommodations include 24-hour room service, twice-daily maid service, overnight laundry and pressing. Each suite and villa has a personal in-room safe providing secure storage for valuables, convenient dual-line telephone system with computer/facsimile connection capacities, compact dish sound system, 26" television with video disc player with satellite hook-up, air-conditioning and overhead fans. The private bar features snack items and refreshments and an extensive CD lending library is located in the Library & Lounge.

Due to the stunning architectural design and proximity to a fast flowing river, this resort is not suitable for children.

The Resort has two restaurants, one bar and 24-hour room service.

Ayung Terrace - Elegantly situated on the crest of a lush gorge, the dining room offers breathtaking views of the swift-flowing river below. Serving three meals daily, guests may select to dine in the restaurant or on the terrace.

Seating for 40 is available in the dining room and the terrace area accommodates 20 : a private dinignarea for eight is adjacent. Breakfast is served from 0630 - 1100, lunch from 1100 - 1500. and dinner from 1800 - 2200. 'Rindik' music is featured from 1700 -1900. and 'Keroncong' from 1700 - 2100. nightly.

Riverside Cafe - Western cuisine and Asian favourites are served in casual, poolside open-air setting. Location next to the river and shaded by an "alang - alang" thatched roof and umbrellas, the restaurant is open from 1100 - 1800 and seats 40.

Jati Bar - Located next to the Lobby, this comfortable lounge built out of beautiful teak wood is known for its spectacular view and delicious libations. Open daily from 1530 - 2300.

Around the clock dining is available in the privacy of your villa or suite. Breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are offered as well as by Four Season Hotels and Resorts ever-popular Alternative Cuisine selections.

The Spa's well-appointed exercise facilities offers a 180 degree view of the valley with state-of-the-art fitness equipment. All four of the spacious treatment rooms include sinks and cabinets; three rooms also include bathtubs, one treatment room contains two beds for double massages. Programmes include aromatherapy, reflexology, and traditional Balinese massage with a focus on elements from the earth such as clay, mountain botanical and warming spices. Enjoy the convenience and quality of three resort boutiques. The Gallery at Sayan features over 1,600 square feet (150 square meters) of retail space offering high quality homeware items, textiles, clothing and antique artwork. The Spa Shop offers a fine selection of aromatic oils, essential oils, bath salts, soaps, incise, natural body care formulations, spa robes and sandals, accessory items, logowear and sportswear. The Lobby Boutique displays an interesting selection of jewellery items, small antique artifacts and locally-woven fabrics.

Endless outdoor activities are found in this area including trekking, cycling, river rafting, kayaking, nature walks and bird watching. Ideally positioned beside the river is a larger infinity-edge, kidney-shaped swimming pool for lounging and sunning.

Guests can enjoy the Resort's extensive collection pf books, compact discs, video cassette tapes and games in the well-appointed facility or in the privacy of their suites or villas. The Library & Lounge is also available for guests with late flight departures or early morning arrivals.

Showers and change facilities are available in the Health Club & Spa. There is also a secure area for luggage. Open from 0600 - 2200.

Private meeting facilities include a conference room with connecting patio ideal for executive retreats. Audio/visual equipment available upon request including VHS and multi-system video equipment, slide and overhead projectors, screens and state-of-the-art sound system. The meeting room measures 580 square feet (54 square meters) and can accommodate 16 for a boardroom set-up and 30 for banquet seating.
